Grant in the Spotlight: Canyon Country Discovery Center
Hansjörg Wyss and the Wyss Foundation have announced a gift of $25,000 to the Canyon Country Discovery Center (formerly the Four Corners School of Outdoor Education). Based in Monticello, Utah, the Canyon Country Discovery Center “creates lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau through adventure, education, and stewardship”.
The organization carries out this work through educational backpacking and river trips in the four corners area, by providing educational resources to teachers and students across the Colorado Plateau, to the public through their state of the art science education center, and through the hard work of their nationally renowned youth conservation corps which is focused on stewarding some of our nation’s most breathtaking public lands, among other programs. Hansjörg Wyss has been a long time supporter of the Canyon Country Discovery Center and was instrumental in providing funding for the construction of the Canyon Country Discovery Center campus, which opened to the public in 2015.
If you find yourself in the Four Corners area visiting one of our nation’s gems such as Canyonlands National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Bears Ears National Monument, Arches National Park, or Edge of the Cedars State Park, we encourage you to make the drive over to Monticello, Utah to visit their campus. We guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
