Native Americans in Philanthropy and Fifteen Philanthropies Announce $102.5 Million Tribal Nations Conservation Pledge
(Washington, DC) March 2023: Native Americans in Philanthropy and Biodiversity Funders Group, in partnership with fifteen funders including the Wyss Foundation, announced a $102.5 million pledge over the next five years to support Tribal-led conservation work. The Pledge calls on funders to commit to support the biodiversity and conservation efforts of Tribes, inter-Tribal organizations, and Tribal consortia.
“The Wyss Foundation partners with Indigenous People and local communities around the world and is proud to announce our involvement in this historic announcement to expand Tribal conservation efforts in the United States,” said Molly McUsic, president of the Wyss Foundation. “The work to safeguard our nation’s biodiversity remains unfinished, but this pledge is a significant step forward for conservation in the United States. This funding commitment will provide Tribal People in the U.S. with much needed resources and capacity to engage in and lead efforts to expand conservation, protect sacred landscapes, and expand access to outdoor spaces for everyone.”
