NEWS: Wyss Scholars at Northern Arizona University
In a recently released report, Northern Arizona University (NAU) provided a glimpse into the impact that philanthropic investors like the Wyss Foundation have on NAU’s students and programs, and the connections it fosters throughout the American West.
At NAU, the Wyss Scholars Program advances conservation science and partnerships and supports the graduate-level education of a new generation of leaders in western land conservation. The financial support from the Wyss Foundation during the Wyss Scholar’s graduate studies and beyond attracts highly motivated and accomplished applicants. NAU's environmental sciences and policy master's degree and the Wyss Scholars Program provide a clear framework and pathway for students to advance career goals in western land conservation.
The Wyss Foundation established the Wyss Scholars Program in 2005 with the purpose of providing recognition, financial support, and career development opportunities to top master’s level graduate students who demonstrate potential for leadership in government or nonprofit land conservation focused on the American West. Initially hosted at Yale University and the University of Montana, the program was expanded in 2007 to include the University of Michigan and Northern Arizona University. In 2017, the program was further expanded to include law students at the University of Colorado and Lewis & Clark College.
