2023 Wyss Fellows Announced
(Washington, DC) May 2023: The Wyss Foundation is excited to announce the 2023 cohort of Wyss Fellows. The Wyss Fellows Program supports the training and development of future conservation leaders through a two-year fellowship at sponsoring organizations. Fellows gain experience in all aspects of conservation advocacy and attend annual week-long training programs.
Wyss Fellow at the Center for Western Priorities (fiscally sponsored by Resources Legacy Fund)
Sterling Homard is a design enthusiast, musician, climber, and recent University of Minnesota graduate working at the Center for Western Priorities. As the Outreach and Campaigns Associate, he supports efforts to protect land, water, and communities in the American West. Sterling’s work will help ensure that policymakers prioritize robust co-management opportunities with Tribal leaders and recognize the cultural, historic, and restorative significance of protecting our lands.
Wyss Fellow at the Colorado Wildlands Project (fiscally sponsored by Wilderness Workshop)
Bella Harris found her passion for conservation while studying wildlife biology at Colorado State University. She went on to work in environmental outreach for nearly five years and recently received her Master of Science in conservation leadership from Colorado State University. Bella is now the Wildlands Campaigner at the Colorado Wildlands Project where she focuses on permanently protecting the Dolores River Canyonlands in Western Colorado.
Wyss Fellow at the Open Space Institute
Malik Geraci is the Land Project Fellow at the Open Space Institute where he works to protect land through conservation transactions for the benefit of soil, water, and biodiversity conservation across the eastern United States. Malik has previously worked with forest service districts and environmental nongovernmental organizations in the conservation, stewardship, and sustainability sectors.
Wyss Fellow at The Conservation Alliance
Bridgette Windell recently graduated with a Master of Science from Colorado State University’s conservation leadership program and has a background in communications and public engagement. She has worked with public and private agencies ranging from the National Park Service to New Belgium Brewing. As the Public Lands Advocacy Coordinator for The Conservation Alliance in Missoula, Montana, Bridgette works to engage the collective power of businesses and outdoor communities to protect wild places.
