2022 Wyss Fellows Announced
(Washington, DC) May 2022: The Wyss Foundation is proud to announce the 2022 Wyss Fellows. The Wyss Fellows Program supports the training and development of future conservation leaders across the United States through a two-year fellowship at sponsoring organizations. Fellows gain experience in all aspects of conservation advocacy and participate in annual week-long training programs.
Wyss Fellow at California Wilderness Coalition
Andrea Iniguez is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with extensive community-organizing and environmental experience within Los Angeles and Riverside counties. As a Fellow with California Wilderness Coalition, Andrea will use her community ties to increase the Coalition’s capacity to advance national monument efforts across Southern California.
Wyss Fellow at Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance
Jordyn Steele is a Montana State University alumna working as a Fellow at Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance to mobilize the Blackfeet Nation to secure permanent protection for the Badger-Two Medicine area. This ecologically vital wildland connecting Glacier National Park with the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex is of profound cultural significance to the Blackfeet Nation. Jordyn will use her previous experience as a park ranger in the area to build a strong, sustainable grassroots movement.
Wyss Fellow at Hispanic Access Foundation
Juan Rosas has fifteen years of non-profit experience and is excited by the opportunity to increase equitable access to the outdoors for traditionally marginalized groups. As a Fellow at Hispanic Access Foundation, he will bolster its efforts to support national monument and refuge expansion opportunities in Southern California and advance California’s 30x30 goal.
Wyss Fellow at Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project
Gabaccia Moreno is a first-generation Mexican American who decided to focus her career on conservation after participating in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montana’s Glacier National Park. Now based in New Mexico as a Fellow for Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project, Gabaccia will work to advance its efforts to permanently protect areas in the Southwest.
Wyss Fellow at Oregon Desert Land Trust
Kharli Rose is a Fellow at Oregon Desert Land Trust where she works to protect Oregon’s high desert landscape, which covers nearly half of the state. After working in journalism for almost a decade, Kharli was inspired by this opportunity to focus her career specifically on conservation. At Oregon Desert Land Trust, she does this by engaging communities, building communications capacity, and engaging in land acquisition and conservation easement projects.
