The Wyss Foundation would like to congratulate the government of Argentina and the administration of President Mauricio Macri for securing full protection for Impenetrable National Park, which is an important part of the once vast Gran Chaco.
In recognition of the government of Argentina’s commitment to conservation, the Wyss Foundation is announcing a new partnership with the Conservation Land Trust (CLT). Together we will help Argentina fulfill its Aichi Convention on Biological Diversity commitment, to secure 10% of their exclusive economic zone with marine protected area status by 2020. You can find more information on the Aichi Convention at https://www.cbd.int/sp/targets/
“We are also excited by this new partnership and look forward to working with the Wyss Foundation to support the government of Argentina as they seek to meet their commitments to the goals of the Achi Convention”, Sofia Heinonen, director of Conservation Land Trust Argentina
Since its establishment in 1998, the Wyss Foundation has helped local communities, land trusts and non-profit partners permanently protect more than 20 million acres of land in the American West and more than 5 million acres internationally. These lands are now conserved in perpetuity for current and future generations to explore and enjoy.
